TRAIN THE COUNSELLING TRAINER

The new course from CSCT Counselling Training for existing and future counselling trainers in the Further and Adult Education sector

WHO IS THE COURSE FOR?

  • Qualified, practising counsellors
  • Qualified counselling skills practitioners

IS PRIOR TEACHING EXPERIENCE REQUIRED?

No. The course is structured in such a way that both those with no prior training experience whatsoever, and those who have already delivered some counselling training courses can join at different stages.

HOW IS THE COURSE TAUGHT?

CSCT's Train the Counselling Trainer is divided into Units and Modules (see detailed information on the course structure overleaf). It is delivered over a series of two-day workshops.

WHAT WILL I GET FROM THE COURSE?

During the workshops, you will:

  • Receive expert tuition solely focused on how to teach FE counselling qualifications. This is something no other existing programme offers
  • Participate fully in an experiential context
  • Utilise and practise previous experience
  • Give and receive constructive feedback on teaching style
  • Identify personal and professional development needs
  • Upon successful completion, receive a CSCT Certificate of Attendance.

After successfully completing a unit, you will:

  • Feel confident to tutor counselling trainees at the relevant NQF level in all aspects of their training, from dealing with awarding body assessment to handling any difficulties
  • Enter into The Tutors' Register, a national database of tutors of all levels of experience, created and maintained by CSCT. The Tutors' Register is available to all CSCT's centre clients when recruiting new tutors.

COURSE STRUCTURE

The full course comprises three units. Each unit is made up of three two-day modules: A, B and C. Each module runs as a separate workshop. Candidates may register for a whole unit or for particular module (provided they fulfil the entry requirements).
