CSCT Introduction to Counselling Concepts (written to AQA specifications) for Award in Introduction to Counselling Concepts

Course length 30 hours.
Course structure An Introduction to Counselling, with either First Steps in Theory, or A First Look at Loss and Grief, or Understanding Counselling Skills with Children and Young People.
Internal assessment Candidate learning statements and practical skills sessions.
External assessment One-hour short answer test.
Entry requirements No previous training required.

CSCT Certificate in Counselling Skills (written to AQA specifications)

Course length 60-75 hours.
Course structure Skills Acquisition and Practice plus either Loss and Grief or Working with Children and Young People .
Internal assessment Journal. Skills role-play practical assessment for all units.
External assessment 60-minute test for mandatory unit (consists of short answer questions).
Entry requirements No previous training required.

CSCT Certification in Counselling Skills (written to AQA specifications)

Course length 135-170 hours.
Course structure The Developing Practitioner plus two from the following: Humanistic Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, Theories of Loss and Grief, Brief Therapy, Helping Children and Young People and Cognitive Behavioural Theory (depending on the choice of the college/centre).
Internal assessment Journal, practical assessment and/or essay for each unit.
External assessment Essay (mandatory unit only).
Entry requirements AQA Intermediate Certificate in Counselling Skills.

CSCT Diploma in Counselling (written to AQA specifications)

Course length 190-240 hours.
Course structure The Developing Practitioner and Therapeutic Practice plus two from the following: Humanistic Theory, Psychodynamic Theory, Theories of Loss and Grief, Brief Therapy, Helping Children and Young People and Cognitive Behavioural Theory (depending on the choice of the college/centre).
Internal assessment Journal. Essay. Practical role-play for all units.
External assessment The Developing Practitioner: Essay. Therapeutic Practice: Study of supervised practice.
Entry requirements AQA Intermediate Certificate in Counselling Skills.
Client hours 8 hours minimum. Please check with the college/centre, as they may require a higher number of client hours.
